Saint John of God Community Services, Liffey Services invite applications for the post of Professionally Qualified Social Worker. This is a permanent full-time position.

The role of the Social Worker in St John of God Community Services is of one who directly works with adults with disability and their families to identify their strengths and support their needs in caring for the person with a disability. This includes carrying out assessments and interventions in the following areas: family and community support, carer difficulties, managing behaviours of concern, advocacy and assistance with entitlements. The Social Worker will undertake Designated Officer training and undertake Designated Officer duties. The Social Worker will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
Each candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:
The National Qualification in Social Work (NQSW) or an equivalent qualification (holders of non-national qualifications must have a letter of accreditation from the National Social Work Qualifications Board).
Must be registered with the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU.
Adequate training and experience to enable him/ her to carry out satisfactorily the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of adults with additional needs.
Have own car and a full clean Irish drivers' license is essential.
Desirable skills:
Candidates must demonstrate competency in applying theory, legislation, knowledge and skills in Social Work within the intellectual disability sector.
Candidates must also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
It is critical that the selected candidate works effectively within a dynamic team environment using a person-centred philosophy.
Candidates are expected to work within their professional code of ethics at all times.
