The Position

The purpose of the role is to promote, develop and coach cricket within Surrey. The role sees the successful candidate coaching and developing our Chance to Shine School and Street projects. National programmes such as All Stars & Dynamos projects, as well as other key programmes which will increase the number of participants in cricket and retain them in the game. 

The successful candidate will be based at our Oval office and will focus mainly on programmes run in the boroughs of south London (Lambeth, Southwark, Wandsworth, Croydon, Sutton, Kingston & Merton).

The role requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual who has a passion to support and develop the game, working with multiple partners and organisations. The role combines coaching and development work and will be responsible for engaging with participants of all ages across Surrey.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver on our Chance to Shine Schools & Street programmes, All Stars & Dynamos, community hubs that caters for children & young adults aged between 5-24.
  • Delivery of 26-28 hours coaching per week
  • Actively work wit the London Participation Team to support and deliver cricket within the county, to develop and connect programmes and to provide a pathway for children to continue playing cricket throughout their lives. 
  • Admin duties including communication with schools & parents via emails, phone, WhatsApp, Street registers, C2S online portals & promoting teacher resources. 
  • Use own initiative to help grow projects and increase participation levels and highlight areas of low participation.
  • Identify children with potential or keen interest and signpost them to local clubs, Street Development MCC hubs, ACE and similar.
  • Support at local and national competitions as and when required.
  • Support the SCF team in the delivery of key events and other cricket development activities.

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role, either paid or voluntary
  • Foundation 1 or Core Coach (level 2 equivalent) ECB Coaching Qualification / multisport coach
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Strong communicator who works well in a team
  • Ability to learn quickly with a ‘can do’ attitude, resilient and adaptable
  • Ability to use own initiative to solve problems and be proactive on the ground 
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good computer literacy, including MS Office
  • Knowledge of Chance to Shine, All Stars and Dynamos Cricket national programmes
  • School sports network
  • Experience in communicating with and an understanding of state primary schools
  • Driving licence and access to road transport

Some flexibility around working hours will be required including evenings and weekends

Satisfactory ECB DBS Check, and the right to work in the United Kingdom
