A leading manufacturer in the construction industry has a newly created opportunity for a Financial Controller to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team where you will be working closely with the manufacturing division. The opportunity offers career progression in the future to Chief Financial Controller level. If you are ambitious and keen to progress your career then this is the opportunity for you. The role will report to the Chief Financial Officer who needs a right-hand person to support the management and development of the finance function. The core role is the production of financial accounts/reports but in parallel ensure the finance systems and processes are robust and scalable.

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller

  • Full preparation and control of the production and manufacturing accounts
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of regular group reports including monthly management accounts, cash reporting, and quarterly statutory consolidation
  • Working with site teams and the shared service department to review and understand monthly costs whilst improving reporting accuracy
  • Periodically visiting job sites
  • Reconciling key balance sheet accounts
  • Preparation of year-end accounts and group consolidation (IFRS)
  • Compliance activities: audit, tax, and statutory returns
  • Provide technical accounting guidance where needed ref. UK/international GAAP
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of plans/forecasts and ad hoc commercial projects

Requirements of the Financial Controller:

  • Qualified Accountant is essential (CIMA or ACCA)
  • Experienced Financial Controller with a background in Manufacturing or Production accounting
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills - particularly Excel
  • Experience with Peoplesoft or Coins accounting packages would be advantageous.
