GSL Education are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Female Physical Education (PE) Teacher for September 2024 to join an outstanding school in Oldham. As a PE Teacher, you will inspire and motivate students to lead active and healthy lifestyles, while working on their physical skills, teamwork abilities, and sportsmanship. The school is a large secondary school with a multi-cultural and diverse cohort. The PE team is made up of 7 Teachers all with the same goals which are to provide a safe and stimulating setting for children to learn and express themselves through sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality PE lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students
  • Ensure that lessons cater to all the pupils
  • Promoting physical literacy and a lifelong enjoyment of sports and physical activity
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks, challenge themselves, and develop their physical skills and confidence
  • Utilise a range of teaching strategies to engage students in a variety of sports and activities, including team sports, individual sports, and fitness-based exercises
  • Assess student progress through ongoing formative assessments
  • Provide constructive feedback to support their development and achievement in PE
  • Develop positive relationships with students and their carers, and colleagues, collaborating effectively to promote the holistic development and well-being of students both in and out of the classroom


Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, specialising in Physical Education
  • Relevant degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field
  • Experience teaching PE is desired but not essential
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for promoting physical activity, health, and well-being
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Promotion of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular sports activities and events

  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection or willingness to take a course on safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
