Zenith People are working with our client who are a Manufacturer based here in the North-East and are looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Estimator on a permanent basis.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business who are well established and have a bright future ahead of them. 

The role is responsible for providing reliable and timely bill of quantities(BOQ) and cost estimates (pressure vessels, piping, supporting structural, skid packages

The role is primarily responsible for reviewing customer specifications, drawings to determine customers’ requirements and provide advice as needed.

The specific duties for the role are set out below:

• Responsible for creating an estimate sheet with costs for each request for quotes in accordance with the project specifications, regional requirements, and pre-order design
• Analyse and interpret technical specifications, reference drawings, technical documents, regulatory body regulations, and then with guidance prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Responsible for the accurate estimation of costs and the preparation of quote submission of multiple bids simultaneously
• Identify areas of risk in the estimation, effectively prioritize, develop, and implement plans to mitigate such risks, escalating whenever necessary.
• Develop, implement, and continuously update the cost estimation strategy to support Capital projects reporting unit’s vision and goals and strategy.
• Track all material costs against initial estimates and escalate any risk of margin erosion with Application team and management.

Specification

• Qualified to degree level
• Strong analytical and technical skills
• Experienced in the use of spreadsheets, estimating pricing models and cost management tools
• Good organisational skills with a high degree of self motivation
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as being a self-starter.
• Good IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills.
