Our client is an employee-owned company delivering services - across the employment, skills, and rehabilitation sectors – that unlock people’s social and economic potential by helping them into work, develop new skills or turn away from crime. 

As an organisation they deliver a range of Employability & Health contracts which support unemployed people ‘back to work’. These employability contracts seek to address a participant’s barriers to gaining new employment with tailored support for each participant to achieve and sustain good quality work in their local communities. The support they provide to participants includes 121 focused job search advice, guidance on re-training options for a different sector and helping to restoring self-esteem of participants. There work plays an important part in helping local participants establish connections within their communities to positively develop themselves further, in health, skills and socially. 

We are currently supporting our fantastic client to recruit a Health and Wellbeing Coach to work in Ellesmere Port and Chester that will support with the Health and Wellbeing Strategy across the UK employability and Health sector. To develop a holistic health and employment approach, progressing customers closer to the labour market and into sustainable employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting a caseload of customers using effective action planning techniques to educate and advise on health and well-being conditions to enable a return to sustainable employment.
  • Perform health specific assessments with customers to identify health challenges around finding, starting, and sustaining suitable employment.
  • Provide health specific evidence-based advice using clinical expertise and judgement to customers to address health specific barriers to work.
  • Provide specialist health support through a blend of group work, digital/ virtual, tutor groups and 1:1 coaching.
  • Develop and implement customer health specific action plans, identifying and utilising evidence-based interventions to support the achievement of job goals that are suited to the customers mental and physical health needs, promoting the value of work for health & well-being, helping to build confidence and the practical and emotional skills to adapt to a working routine.
  • Support in the development of a range of standardised training and support materials for non-healthcare trained employees to raise awareness and improve the employee knowledge base.
  • Deliver a range of health specific programmes within scope of practice to support customers with their health management including Managing Anxiety, Stress Management, Pain Management, Back & Neck Care, and various weekly classes e.g. Relaxation, Exercise Classes.
  • Identify and build key relationships with internal delivery teams across the entire employability pillar (i.e. Employment Consultants) and external stakeholders (i.e. GPs, healthcare providers, employers) to support an individual’s progression.
  • Observe and adhere to our customer service standards so that all customers are provided with the same high standard of service that maximises their chances of securing sustainable employment.
  • Keep concise records of interactions with all customers on our internal customer management system in an accurate and compliant manner.
  • Seek to actively engage communities in making sense of the issues which affect their lives.
  • Set goals for improvement and respond to problems and needs through empowerment and active participation.
  • Identify community skills, assets, issues, and needs.
  • Ensures best practice is adhered to and championed.

Experience & Qualification’s:

  • Proven experience of working in health promotion or public health. 
  • Supported those with health issues back to work/ vocational rehabilitation / occupation health.
  • Supported individuals with physical and mental health difficulties in a customer facing environment.
  • Presented and delivered health or wellbeing related group interventions, facilitating workshops or training sessions through digital technology.
  • Built rapport with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders using your coaching skills and knowledge of local community support areas.
  • Desirable a qualified health professional registered with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), or British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
  • Knowledge and experience of the employability sector and local labour market
  • Experience of working with people in the provision of ‘information, advice & guidance’. 
  • Full driving licence to enable deployment across a specified geographical area (region), when required.
