QHSE MANAGER

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Our client is a leading Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) company with a significant presence in the renewables sector. With an annual turnover of $5 billion, the client has a major operational footprint in Germany, contributing over $1 billion to the turnover. The business is dedicated to delivering high-quality fabrication and installation projects, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection.

Position overview:

The QHSE Manager will be the senior-most QHSE professional within the European Project Management Office (PMO). This role is pivotal in driving the quality, health, safety, and environmental agenda across the client's operations in Europe, with a specific focus on Germany. The successful candidate will integrate quality management with HSE strategies to ensure seamless operations and adherence to regulatory and corporate standards.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Strategy
    • Develop and implement the QHSE strategy in alignment with the company's goals and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead and mentor the QHSE team within the European PMO, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  1. Health, Safety and Environment
    • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies and procedures in accordance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize occupational hazards and environmental impacts.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.

  1. Quality Management
    • Oversee the quality control and assurance processes for fabrication and installation projects.
    • Implement and maintain ISO 9001 quality management systems.
    • Ensure that quality management practices directly contribute to enhanced HSE outcomes and operational efficiency.

  1. Operational Excellence
    • Collaborate with project teams to integrate QHSE considerations into project planning and execution.
    • Drive initiatives to improve operational performance and reduce incidents.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for QHSE matters within the European PMO.
    • Engage with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability.
    • Prepare and present QHSE performance reports to senior management.

  1. Training & Development
    • Develop and deliver QHSE training programs to enhance team competencies and awareness.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the QHSE team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior QHSE role within the EPCI or renewables sector.
  • Proven experience in managing quality control and assurance in fabrication and installation projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in English and German at C1 level or above.
