Housing Officer – Birmingham Patch (Remote / Hybrid Considered)
Contract: 6–12 Months (Temporary)
We are currently partnering with a well-established Housing Association to recruit an experienced Housing Officer for a contract role covering the Birmingham area. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and resident-focused housing professional who is confident managing tenancies and delivering high-quality housing services across a busy urban patch.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a designated patch of tenancies, ensuring effective housing management from tenancy sign-up through to termination
- Deal with a wide range of housing management issues including tenancy breaches, ASB, rent arrears, estate management, and neighbour disputes
- Carry out tenancy visits, property inspections, and estate walkabouts (remote working with occasional site visits across Birmingham)
- Investigate complaints and resolve tenancy-related issues in a fair, timely, and professional manner
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and external agencies including local authorities, police, and support services
- Support tenancy sustainment and contribute to reducing evictions and tenancy failure
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with housing legislation, policies, and procedures
Key Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Housing Officer, Neighbourhood Officer, or similar role within a Housing Association or Local Authority
- Strong understanding of housing legislation, tenancy management, and best practice within the sector
- Experience dealing with tenancy enforcement, ASB, and rent arrears (highly desirable)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and prioritise effectively
- Comfortable working remotely with occasional travel across the Birmingham patch
- Immediate or short notice availability is highly desirable
