Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £50k - £60k + Package
A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the team on a landmark construction project in the North West.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a major £400m development, with a programme spanning approximately four years. The successful candidate will join a well-established project team from an early stage and help drive the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process throughout all project phases.
- Coordinate consultant teams, specialist subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure design information is delivered on time and aligned with programme requirements.
- Review design proposals for buildability, compliance, cost efficiency, and risk management.
- Chair design team meetings and manage design workshops.
- Support the project team in achieving programme, quality, and commercial objectives.
- Monitor design deliverables and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and statutory requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contracting environment.
- Strong background delivering large-scale construction projects.
- Excellent understanding of design management processes, procurement routes, and construction methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive design programmes effectively.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
