Senior Sustainability Consultant

I am looking for an enthusiastic and experienced senior sustainability consultant to work within my clients sustainability team, at their office in Manchester. The role will involve working on a very wide range of projects, mostly new build with some refurbishments, across all of the commercial, education, housing and healthcare sectors.

The client provide a variety of sustainability consultancy services, but have a focus around  baseline BREEAM assessment work that will need your input. They also offer associated services, such as Passive Design Analysis, LZC feasibility studies and IMPACT life cycle assessments.

They offer a sustainability planning stage service and the latest London Plan requirements require us to produce specifically tailored sustainability reports, GLA embodied carbon life cycle assessment, and circular economy reports.

Their clients are developing a keen interest in the reducing the embodied carbon of their developments. They would like another senior member of the team to assist with embodied carbon client advice, LCA modelling and analysis, from pre-planning through to offsetting and sequestration.

Key Skills and Experience

In this instance, candidates are sought with a BSc/ BEng (or equivalent) in a sustainability/ environmental/ energy/ building services related discipline. The following qualities are essential:

  • • Good communication skills – with clients and colleagues
  • • Good technical report writing skills – we have templates, but attention to detail is required
  • • Self motivation
  • • Commercial awareness
  • • A passion for sustainability in the built environment

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will already be a BREEAM AP. Demonstrable experience in the management and delivery of sustainability appraisal schemes over a number of years is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • • Working under minimum supervision to carry out the BREEAM AP role for assessments, from pre-planning through to post construction
  • • Embodied carbon life cycle assessment and reporting (training will be given where required, but this is a key requirement of the role)
  • • Producing sustainability reports for planning
  • • Providing sustainable design advice and guidance to clients and colleagues
  • • Support for/ mentoring of more junior members of the team
  • • Keeping up to date with developing best practice and technological advancement
